Well.
I’ve started a lot of blogs in my time, but this one is kinda of special. Not quite ready to show edited images, and need to scan my collection of photos from years past, so for now here’s a photo from my iPhone taken last year:

Photography is an old, old interest. Ever since my uncle gave me my first camera (the Polaroid was the “family camera” and my Dad has one from…the war?), I’ve wanted to be a photographer. The problem was, in the days of wacky packages and Archie magazines, allowance didn’t go that far.
Then there was yarn, Tiger Beats and MadLibs to acquire…then viola strings guitar strings, sheet music, clarinet reeds….all of those things came mostly out of allowance. Which meant not a lot of spare cash to spend on Kodak film PLUS developing!
In those days, kids didn’t have credit cards.
But, in support of a new line of business for my company, I decided that stock photography be damned: the most useful photos would be ones to which I owned complete rights. The days of universal usage are over; stock photographers do *amazing* work, but their work is too pricey given the numerous web projects I run.
Today was my first proper photography course (now a lot of that old Photoshop stuff actually makes sense!), acquired a spiffy mid-range camera and I’m ready to go! I’ll post photos as soon as I complete my gear, because the files are huge.
